Intro

About the project

Altus house is currently the tallest building in Yorkshire. Its usage is student accommodation and the building consists of over 752 student units. Its construction began in 2019 and it was completed in time for the new academic year in 2021.

Our clients on the project were IQ Student Accommodation and RG Group.

A Platinum CGI Package

We worked with the architects, O'Connell East Architects, taking their plans (CAD drawings & Revit files) and using them to present the development through our highly detailed, photorealistic Computer Generated Imagery (CGI).

This project is an example of CGI used to its full potential, supporting decision making throughout the process and providing valuable marketing content. IQ Student Accommodation were able to advertise their rooms internationally before the project was even close to completion. There isn’t marketing content more powerful than the ability to see into the future.

Our CGI Deliverables:

Virtual Reality Game Engine

The most interactive experience that allows the user to explore the space with complete freedom and realism. This is a video game world that allows IQ Student Accommodation to put their prospective residents within Altus House from the comfort of a marketing suite.

Regular Site Visits

Construction sites are always changing which means to document the process we need to visit sites regularly. We visited the Altus House site over 20 times over the course of 2 years.

Our first visit in May 2019 was to capture the installation of the crane over the course of 3 days with both aerial and ground video footage. This was a dramatic event with road closures, police escorts and the assembly of a towering crane (courtesy of Falcon Cranes).

Each visit from then onwards was to track the progress of the build. On each visit we captured aerial and ground video, along with aerial photography, and imagery for our pioneering aerial timelapse process.

Our studio team would then edit a progress update video for each visit:

In June 2021, it was time for them to dismantle the crane. This was another 3 day process where we were on hand to capture aerial and ground video, producing an overview:

Final Deliverables

By August 2021, Altus House was complete ready for the new academic year and students flooded in to their beautiful brand new accommodation.

By November 2021, we’d completed our final visit to site, capturing ground video and photography of the finished interior:

Throughout the whole process we were delivering content for IQ Student Accommodation and RG Group to use for internal meetings, social media, or just for them to feel proud of their work.

Our content allows for reflection and puts into context the incredible achievements of mankind. Every designer and contractor that worked on this project can be proud of what they have achieved, and thanks to Clevershot their hard work and achievement will forever be immortalised through our powerful content.

Our final deliverable, and a nice way to say goodbye to this wonderful project, was this cinematic overview:
