About the project
The UK’s latest IKEA is the first small format store in the UK and the eighth of its kind globally, allowing shoppers to browse and explore a wide range of products across the familiar showrooms of the Swedish brand.
With incredible transport hubs on its doorstep, access to the store is easy whether travelling by foot, train, car, bus or bike. Not forgetting to mention that the Swedish Deli opens early for a quick breakfast bite, as well as serving plenty of Clevershot favourites throughout the day.
Sitting in the heart of Hammersmith, the store itself is a part of the newly refurbished King’s Mall, which was purchased two years prior by parent company INGKA Centres for £170 million and transformed today into the renamed Livat Hammersmith.
Our drones captured the renovation of the residents’ rooftop garden space; a complete overhaul of the central area, nestled between the residential flats that sit on top of Livat Hammersmith.
Down below, cyclists will be able to travel eastwards and westwards thanks to the new segregated Safer Cycle Pathway.
Combined with a new cinema, affordable homes and IKEA's redevelopment of the Civic Campus, King Street leads the way in regeneration and improvements, which reflects the ambition of Hammersmith & Fulham being the best place to do business in Europe.
Four time-lapse cameras were installed to capture the progression, development and completion in the new store. From the walls and floors, to the shelves and stock, the brand new city centre IKEA Hammersmith has been documented forever.
Since opening on the 24th February 2022, customers have been able to pop in for inspiration, schedule a consultation with a specialist to design their perfect kitchen, bedroom or living space, or just pick up some accessories such as cushions, candles and lamps.
We worked through the night, producing over 700 scans with our 3D, 360 cameras, to create a virtual tour of the entire store. This showcases every last detail from the tassels on the bed covers upstairs to the furry teddy bears downstairs, becoming the perfect way for stakeholders to immerse themselves in the UK’s newest IKEA, from wherever they are in the world.
Inside, we glide through the store to showcase it in pristine condition before the store opened to the eager North London public gathering, where the atmosphere and excitement was captured for the ribbon cutting. This cemented Hammersmith as the first high street in the UK to have an IKEA showroom store.
We love our partnership with IKEA and it's been a real pleasure to work on this project to tell the story and document their new journey of bringing IKEA to the UK high street.
Our final production for this project was a complete journey, showcasing the epic transformation of the store into the spectacle it is today.
