The project, marketing 3 large estates in the North-East, required us to capture drone and ground videography for over 1000 acres of commercial real estate.
Following video capture, we had to produce 3 video deliverables with our platinum motion design package to compliment JLL’s wider marketing campaign.
Dan talks through our creative process for the project.
This is one of the 3 videos we created for Project George, focussing on Team Valley Trading Estate.
The first challenge we faced with the project was the sheer scale of the sites being captured, with Team Valley Trading Estate covering 630 acres. With standard drone permissions only allowing for heights of 400ft, capturing the site effectively would have been impossible without Clevershot’s special permissions granted by the CAA.
Our Operating Safety Case (OSC) allows us to fly at heights of 1000ft, along with other extra permissions.
The second challenge was coming up with our creative vision and structure for the videos; refining 1000+ acres of property, 200GB of video content, and a brochure of detailed specification into 3x 3-minute videos.
It was of paramount importance to us that these videos be engaging and consumable, whilst showcasing the sites in their full glory.
Where did we start?
We started with an idea: a character.
A character that in this case took the form of a little red orb, who would guide our viewers through the video, telling their eyes where to look, and maintaining orientation.
Even a film about commercial real estate (and lots of numbers) has a story to tell.
Using our character, it became clear how we would tell this story:
The Angel of the North was a key landmark, located right next to Team Valley Trading Estate. We tasked our in-house drone pilot with getting stunning footage of the sculpture and they didn’t disappoint!
Our in-house team of motion designers were able to build a bespoke set of titles and animations for this project.
There is a fine balance to be found when adding animation and motion graphics to these videos; making the video engaging and revealing information in a way that makes sense, without distracting from the original purpose of the video.
With lots of information to communicate, we made sure to deliver each piece of information in a way that is structured and understandable, whilst also leaving space for the viewer to see the impressive drone footage of the site.
